A Fabulous time in Carrenac
By: Bobbie Carroll
Hi Paula
Just wanted to feed back to you that we had a fabulous time in Carrenac in your beautiful cottage in May. Sadly the weather was poor with rain every day, but it was great nevertheless. Our fellow travellers, (Ray's brother and his wife Bob and Helen) at 60 had never even had a passport (Helen hadn't even been on a plane for thirty five years) and were blown away. I am sure you will get an increase in bookings as Bob is boring everyone witless about how magnificent south west France is!
Sadly I broke the tiny little lampshade on the stairs (didn't see it in the dark on our arrival) but Jackie and Deryck are aware and happy to source a replacement.
Highlights included the Gouffre de Padirac; the VE Day celebrations on the green opposite the cottage with an invite from the locals to have aperitifs; and the many beautiful villages in the area. It was great for us, used to travelling huge distances to get from A to B, to be able to toodle just a few kilometres in the car each day to discover new treasures.
Thanks once again and we look forward to further holidays in the area.
Kind regards

Carrenac is a little like Eden
By: Helen
When we arrived here on Monday evening your neighbour told us that he hoped that we would bring some good weather as everybody was sick of the rain and cold. Normally I would not take credit for such skills as changing the weather, but I think that there is so much magic here that a little has worn off on us and I think that we could have brought the beautiful days we have had since our arrival. Another quote from your neighbour - 'Carrenac is a little like Eden'. We agree.
We have had a wonderful couple of days in this idyllic and tranquil haven. There is such beauty and delight here that we have been entranced. You told us that there is much to see around Carennac and we have seen the posters for the surrounding wonders. However, Ray said why go looking for more when perfection is here, so we have spent our time wandering around and enjoying every twist and turn we take, when we see yet another wonderful old building or leaning tower or pot of flowers.
Thank you so much for allowing us this great adventure. It has been a very special part of a magic holiday.
Hope all is going well in Kew and that you and your family are well and happy.
See you soon

Enjoying your beautiful house
By: Klaus and Heather
Hi Paula and Paul,
Just a quick note to let you know that we are really enjoying your beautiful house in this most magnificent part of the world. What a majestic place!! It is everything that you and Mary Jo + Tom said it was and it’s fantastic that it is finally reality.
After 5 hectic days in Paris with huge crowds wherever we went, it is an absolute pleasure to enjoy the peace and quiet in these magnificent surrounds.
We arrived around 6:30 last night after my driving lesson from Paris, getting used to the other side of the road and finding gearstick & rearview mirror on my right. We were blown away with views getting here and then arriving here with the narrow streets and quaint and ancient buildings. How pretty is it?
There was a lovely note from Jackie and Deryck welcoming us here and, no doubt thanks to you, a bottle of champagne, 2 bottles of wine, bread in the freezer and milk in the fridge. Heather, who incidentally has passed out on the couch after a big day sightseeing, is so grateful for the birthday wishes and all the goodies. Such a lovely thought and much appreciated after the journey from Paris. Thank you so much.
Your house is so comfortable, you have it so well set up. One wants for nothing at all here. The furniture is fabulous, kitchen well equipped and there is the best in sound and audio equipment. The bed is sooooo comfortable with that lovely light warm doona. And what about the toilet? We are highly entertained with the wind up and the loud woosh as it all heads off to tour the city. Love the shower too.
We couldn’t resist a quick walk around town before tea last night and finally cooked chicken fillets on the Barby around 9:00 pm. Bloody lovely with the bottle of red that you kindly donated.
We have been doing Baguette every morning for breakfast since we arrived in France and today was no different but the local boulangerie is being renovated and we finally found her working from the back of a little van across the road. We thought that was so cute. She explained it all in her best French and we just wallowed in ignorance. The people are so nice and tolerant of our vocabulary of 3 words.
Went into Saint Cere today to look around and buy supplies for tea. Then back to Bretenoux and the top 2 local suggestions from the list of ‘Most beautiful Villages of France’, Autoire and Loubressac. They are all beautiful and it’s particularly spectacular along the top of the ridge with spectacular views either side at Loubressac. I think we took 300 photos today and it’s impossible to take a bad photo around here, the buildings/views are amazing and the trees are just coming into blossom as well.
We got home round 7:00 tonight and sat in the sun at the back of your garden and enjoyed the bottle of champagne. Cooked pork on the Barby and now writing this whilst Heather takes it easy on the lounge.
Being an ex computer programmer and administrator, it’s impossible for me to adequately express our gratitude and how wonderful it is here. My concern now is that it is potentially all downhill from here after we leave Carennac. We love it here and you have made a very wise choice in purchasing here so that people like us can enjoy it but also as a holiday destination for yourselves.
Anyway, must go before I go on forever, hope you guys are going well and not too jealous.
Thankyou so much
